An EDNA system would put advanced biotechnology and IT into every cell of our bodies and enable interfacing to almost every aspect of our current biology, and also provide a means to edit, replace, enhance, mediate and control almost every aspect of it. Much of the EDNA System is feasible in the next few decades, but as well as enormous potential benefits, it would also bring enormous dangers. We explore both.

This was a book I wrote last year with futurist Tracey Follows. Since then I have developed some of the ideas much further and written about them in another book, Women’s Health Technology (I may offer that free too soon). But with only limited overlap, the EDNA book remains the best and most complete summary of the fantastic capabilities (and potential dangers) of the EDNA system. That too will change when I release my forthcoming book Eternal Woman, though it is only in early-stage writing so far.
A few of the ideas we considered in the book have since been replicated by other pharma/biotech organisations, which is very typical of futurist work. Predicting technology by inventing it is a well established and one of the best futures techniques.
